Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 25th July 2026
At brolly.sh, we keep things simple and aim to respect your privacy. We do not track you across the internet, sell your data, or ask for unnecessary personal details.
---------------------------------------------
1. What We Collect & How We Use It
When you use brolly.sh, we process a very limited amount of information to keep the service running securely and to improve your experience.
Server logs (IP addresses): when you visit the site, our servers automatically log your IP address. We use this strictly for security purposes (like preventing DDoS attacks) and maintaining basic site functionality.
Basic analytics (anonymised IPs): we monitor basic traffic patterns to see how our site is performing, on our public /stats page. Before this analytics data is stored, your IP address is fully anonymised so it cannot be traced back to you or your specific device.
Search locations: we record the cities or postcodes you search for to provide you with the weather forecast. We aggregate this search data to power our public "Top Locations" table on the /stats page. This location data is never linked to your personal identity.
---------------------------------------------
2. Cookies
We keep things minimal. We only use essential cookies to remember your recent weather searches so you can easily pick up where you left off.
No tracking: we do not use cookies to track you across the internet, build advertising profiles, or share your data with third parties.
Your control: you can clear your recent search history at any time by clicking 'clear' in the Recent Locations section on brolly.sh.
---------------------------------------------
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing. Your information is only processed by our hosting and analytics providers strictly for the purposes outlined above.
---------------------------------------------
4. Data Retention
Security logs: raw IP addresses held in our server logs are deleted automatically after 5 days.
Analytics & search trends: because our analytics and search location trends are completely anonymised and cannot identify you, we keep this aggregated data indefinitely.
---------------------------------------------
5. Your Privacy Rights
Under privacy laws like the GDPR, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. However, because we anonymise our analytics and only hold raw IPs temporarily in security / debug logs, we do not store identifying profiles of our users. This means we generally cannot identify you from our systems to pull a specific record.
